Balacbac Cargo Residence
Balacbac, Baguio
Located in Balacbac, Baguio, this five-bedroom, two-storey residence sits on a 200 sqm lot and draws inspiration from cargo-tecture principles combined with minimalist design. The architectural concept expresses strength and clarity through a bold contrast of materials and tones—an all-white upper volume seemingly resting atop a gray, container-inspired ground floor.
The lower level features a solid, industrial character reminiscent of shipping container architecture, emphasizing durability and structure. In contrast, the second floor presents a clean, refined façade with crisp white finishes, simple geometry, and controlled openings that balance light, privacy, and ventilation—well suited to Baguio’s cool mountain climate.
The project began as an unfinished structure originally started by the client in 2014. We were commissioned to formalize the architectural plans, refine the overall design direction, and secure the necessary building permits to move the project forward. Through careful planning and reconfiguration, the home was transformed into a cohesive and functional family residence.
Designed for a retired policeman and his family—his wife and children also serving in law enforcement—the home reflects resilience, order, and strength while maintaining warmth and comfort. The result is a distinctive modern mountain dwelling that merges industrial inspiration with minimalist refinement.

"For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God."
